On May 5th, we opened the doors of our new Joint Compound plant in Denton, Texas, and we did it surrounded by the people who made it possible: distributors, contractors, partners, and local authorities who traveled to North Texas to share the day with us. It was more than a ribbon cutting. It was the moment a long-standing commitment to the U.S. market took physical shape — in concrete, steel, and a production line ready to serve the builders of this region.
The timing carries its own weight. This opening arrives as Panel Rey marks 40 years of building in gypsum, and few ways of celebrating four decades feel more fitting than laying the foundation for the next one.
Forty Years, and a Plant That Looks Forward
Four decades in the construction materials industry teach you something that no strategic plan can shortcut: growth only matters when it is close to the customer. Distance costs time, time costs money, and in construction both translate directly into delayed schedules and stretched budgets. Producing joint compound in Denton means shortening that distance for the U.S. market — placing manufacturing where the demand already is, rather than asking demand to wait.
For us, the Denton plant is not a satellite operation. It is a statement about where Panel Rey intends to compete over the coming years, and about the level of service we believe our U.S. customers should be able to expect from a manufacturer that has spent 40 years refining what goes into every bucket and every bag.
Cinco de Mayo in Denton: A Celebration with Mexican Soul
There was a certain poetry in the date. May 5th is a day that Texas and Mexico share in their own ways, and the celebration leaned fully into it. Guests were welcomed with Mexican food and live mariachi — not as decoration, but as an honest expression of where this company comes from and how it does business: with warmth, with hospitality, and with the conviction that a commercial relationship is, first and foremost, a human one.
Distributors and contractors who have worked with our products for years met the team behind them. Denton authorities saw firsthand what the facility will mean for the local economy. And for a few hours, a manufacturing plant in North Texas sounded a great deal like a plaza in Monterrey.

That phrase is not a tagline we invented for the occasion. It is the shortest possible summary of what 40 years have taught us: quality is something you craft, deliberately, batch after batch — and trust is something you build, slowly, project after project. The Denton plant exists to do both, closer to the people who depend on them.
