Eighteen Holes, One Industry: Panel Rey at the DACA Golf Tournament in Dallas

20 April 2026

On April 13th, Panel Rey took part in the DACA Golf Tournament in Dallas, Texas. It was a day of sport, conversation, and good company alongside the members of the Drywall and Acoustical Contractors Association — the professionals who install the walls and ceilings that shape commercial spaces across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.

We were there for the golf, of course. But mostly we were there for the people.

Why a Golf Course Is a Serious Place for This Industry

In construction, the most important conversations rarely happen in a conference room. They happen on the jobsite, over a truck bed, at the supply counter — and, quite often, over eighteen holes. A tournament like this one gives manufacturers and contractors something that a sales call cannot: unhurried time together.

Four or five hours on a course is enough to hear what is actually happening in the field. Which finishes are giving crews trouble in the Texas heat. How lead times are affecting bid schedules. What a contractor wishes a supplier understood before quoting a job. That kind of feedback does not arrive in a spreadsheet. It arrives in conversation, between shots, from someone who has no reason to be diplomatic about it.

The best product feedback we get does not come from a survey. It comes from a contractor who trusts us enough to be blunt.

DACA: A Community Built Around Walls and Ceilings

The Drywall and Acoustical Contractors Association has spent decades bringing together the commercial wall and ceiling professionals of the Dallas–Fort Worth area, along with the suppliers who serve them. It is a specific community with a specific craft — and that specificity is exactly what makes it valuable.

When everyone in the room understands joint treatment, acoustical performance, and what a tight installation schedule really demands, the conversation starts at a higher level. There is no need to explain the basics. You can go straight to the problems worth solving.

For a gypsum manufacturer, being present in that community is not a marketing gesture. It is how we stay accountable to the people who use our products every day.

What We Took Home from the Day

Direct field insight. Honest, unfiltered feedback from contractors who work with wall and ceiling systems daily.

Stronger relationships. Time with DACA members that turns supplier contacts into working partnerships.

A closer read on the market. A clearer picture of how demand, schedules, and project types are moving in the DFW area.

Presence where it matters. A reminder that our commitment to the U.S. market is measured in relationships, not only in logistics.

Showing Up, Round After Round

Trust in this industry is built the same way a wall is: layer by layer, with time between each one. A single tournament does not create a partnership. But showing up consistently — listening, participating, contributing to the association’s life — is how a manufacturer earns a place in a local construction community rather than simply selling into it.

That is the standard we hold ourselves to across every market where Panel Rey operates, and Dallas is no exception.

Thank You for Having Us

Our thanks to DACA and to every member who made the day such a good one. Between the sport, the networking, and the conversations that happened somewhere in between, it was a reminder of why we value this association and the people who make it up.

We look forward to the next round — on the course and on the jobsite.
