Anyone can host an event once. The second time is when it starts to mean something.
Our 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament in Houston brought together the business partners who work alongside Panel Rey every day — a full day of golf, good company, and the kind of conversations that only happen when nobody is in a hurry. It was, by every measure that matters to us, an outstanding day.
And with the word “annual” now genuinely earned, something changed. What began last year as an idea has become a fixed point on the calendar.
Hosting Is a Different Kind of Commitment
Panel Rey attends a good number of industry events, and we value every one of them. But hosting is something else entirely. When you are the one sending the invitations, you are not there to be seen — you are there to make sure everyone else has a good time. You handle the logistics. You worry about the details. You spend the day making introductions rather than seeking them.
That shift in role reveals what a company actually thinks about its partners. Convening people costs time, money, and organizational effort, and it produces no immediate sale. What it produces is something slower and considerably more durable: the sense, among the people you work with, that the relationship extends beyond the purchase order.
We did not organize a tournament to close deals. We organized it because the people who build with us deserve a day that has nothing to do with a transaction.
Cinco de Mayo in Houston: A Date That Belongs to Both Sides
There is a reason this tournament carries the date it does. Houston is a city where Mexican and American business culture have been working side by side for generations, and Cinco de Mayo is one of the few dates that both traditions claim comfortably. For a company born in Mexico and growing in Texas, it is the natural anchor for an annual gathering.
It gives the tournament an identity beyond the sport. This is not a generic corporate outing that happens to fall in spring. It is a celebration with a specific character, and our partners know exactly what they are being invited to.
What We Mean by the Panel Rey Family
The phrase gets used loosely in business, so it is worth being precise about what we mean. Our partners are not employees, and we are not pretending otherwise. What we mean is that the relationship has a longer horizon than a single project — that when a distributor takes on our product line, or a contractor stakes their reputation on our systems, they are making a bet on us, and we take that seriously.
A day of golf does not repay that. But it does acknowledge it, in person, away from the pressures of a jobsite or a sales conversation. Sometimes acknowledgment is the point.
Why We Keep Doing This
Time without an agenda. Hours with our partners in which nobody is selling and nobody is buying.
Connections among the guests themselves. Distributors, contractors, and partners meeting each other — not just meeting us.
A tradition with roots. An annual date our partners can plan around and look forward to.
A visible commitment to Texas. Proof that our presence in this market is built on relationships, not only on logistics.
Thank You for Being There
To every business partner who cleared a day on the calendar and joined us in Houston: thank you. Your presence is what turned a scheduled event into a genuinely memorable one, and your support throughout the year is what makes hosting it worthwhile in the first place.
We are proud to have you as part of the Panel Rey family. Let us keep building something strong and unforgettable together — and we will see you at the third.
